Matt Soares

Matt Soares, based in the Atlanta area, pursued his doctoral studies in Trumpet Performance at Texas Tech University, earning a certificate in Recording Technologies. He holds a Master of Music in Trumpet Performance from the University of Alabama and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Berry College.

During his time at Texas Tech, Matt served as a graduate teaching assistant, leading trumpet ensembles, teaching applied lessons, and instructing brass methods courses for undergraduate music education majors.

As a performer, Matt has had the opportunity to play with professional orchestras including the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra, Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra, Starkville Symphony Orchestra, and the Mississippi State Faculty Brass Quintet. He currently performs with the Georgia Brass Band and the DeKalb Symphony Orchestra.

Matt’s teaching career spans the Atlanta and Chattanooga areas, where he has maintained an active freelance career and private lesson studio. His students have earned placements in honor bands and All-State ensembles, and have secured positions in U.S. military bands. He continues to teach musicians of all levels, helping them achieve their artistic and professional goals.
